Just to make matters worse there is no such thing as a Management Point in a secondary site! While you can set the checkbox in the secondary site the management point becomes a Proxy Management Point.
The job of the PMP is to recieve client requests as does a management point in a primary site and then fulfill those requests by issuing a query to the database. Some (but not all) results of normal client queries can be cached but for those
parts (such as location requests) which cannot the client will still need to go across the WAN to the MP at the primary site.
The end result will be that what would have been a lot of clients making HTTP(S) calls across the WAN you now have 1 system making (fewer) TCP1433 requests and a lot of clients making (fewer) HTTP(S) requests and you will normally be able to reduce bandwidth
utilisation and the load on the MP at the primary site will be reduced.

Without knowing a lot more about the infrastructure, no one can provide you a valid "conclusion". In general, if you are deploying a secondary, most folks do also install an MP at the secondary.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

I didn't say yes and Alter didn't say no.
Alter provided an explanation of policy retrieval (which only part of what a MP does at a secondary site) and I merely stated that most folks do put an MP at secondary sites.
Basically, it comes down to the question of why wouldn't you place an MP at a secondary site? Although, we have to back up and look at your reasoning for a secondary in the first place.
You've provided a question with an "It depends" answer, or as the robot would say "Insufficient data" to provide you with a real answer. Thus, without more, much more information about your scenario, there is no way to answer the question.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

MPs are all about client communication thus number of clients in each location, network topology, and bandwidth between locations are the key factors.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys
