Microsoft Sharepoint Backup - Server Farm Name
I am havingproblems backing up Microsoft Sharepoint Server Farms in a third-party backup solution.
When I want to add a server farm an 'add Server farm' box appears with the following message; To discover a server farmI need to enter a web server name that belongs to the server farm I want to backup. I suppose that the web server name is the FQDN of our WFE server. I fill that in and leave the default name for the Server Farm (e.g. Server Farm 1)but then when I click on OK the following message appears: None of the Web servers for the specified server farm could be accessed.
I don't understand. Do I have to provide thenameof a specificserver farm associated with the web server? I can't remember ever giving a name to my server farm. I've checked Central Administration but I can't find a name for my server farm. Does anyone have an idea what this could be?
Thanks

Hi Davy,
If you need to figure out the "Farm Name" you can find it by installing SharePoint Manager 2010 (see
http://imperfectit.blogspot.com/2010/06/sharepoint-manager-2010.html).
When you open the tool, highlight the root of the tree on the left and you should be able to see the farm name.

By Danny, do you mean me?
Make sure you install and run it on your 64 bit SharePoint server with an account that has local and farm admin (Run as Administrator).Imperfect IT - Because when does anything work the way it's supposed to? http://imperfectit.blogspot.com/
