Monitor Apache
Dear All,
We need to monitor Apache using SCOM 2007 R2.. all i can see is 4 concurrent processes running on the agent (Apache.exe*32) , There is no service in the Windows Services console for Apache.
I checked and found under Authoring Pane there is a Way to Create Process monitoring. (Not sure though)
What is the suggested way to monitor Apache.
Thanks

Hi Kitaab,
Are you monitoring apache on unix or on windows machines?
Of course you could look at management packs from Quest and Bridgeways for Apache.
If a windows server is involved you could try to pick up the windows service. If you cant find it you might have to go for the process. You already found where that is. If it is a process running on windows you can try to go for this one first.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

So you can start with the process monitoring template. Point it to the executable. It will ask you how many instances of this process you would like to see as minimum and maximum. You will have to see what is normal in your case.. if 4 is normal you could
have it alert below 3 or above 5 for instance. It is all up to the normal running situation on your machine. You can also specify if you want to be alerted if this process is using to much memory or cpu as well.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My BICTT Blog)

I've done a run through of using the process template here:

Page 6 is where you can set the "healthy" number of processes expected which seems to be 4 in your case.
Hope it helps

Are you trying to monitor Apache? or do you just wanna know if the websites are working ok? Because you might just want to monitor the websites and don't set up process monitoring (it would depend on what you are interested in).

Hi,
I think you can also try the following method to monitor this process with a script based monitor:
Monitor a process in Operations Manager 2007 using a script
