Monitor virtual disks
Hello together, I want to monitor and maybe create overrides for the disks of my virtual Hyper-V guests. Basically I am using a mixture of dynamic and fixed disks which are labeled according what they are "fixed_xxx" / "dynamic_xxx". I haven't found a way to accomplish this reliably. Any ideas about how I can do this? Regards, M.

Hi, Is that something on your Hyper-V host or is it inside of your guests? You need a agent on each guest. Then you could create dynamic groups that discovery the different disc. You can use those groups then as target for overrides.Anders Bengtsson | Microsoft PFE | blog at http://www.contoso.se

Hello Anders, it would be within my guests. The thing is that the drives are stored in the SAN and technically won't be in danger of running out of capacity. That's why I want to create an overwrite for them just to avoid getting bothered by the alerts. What would be the right class / query to accomplish this? Regards, M.

Hi You can create a dynamic group of logical disk based upon your naming convention. Then you can set overrides against each monitor for that group - there are seperate monitors for windows 2000, windows 2003 and windows 2008 logical disk monitoring.
