Move one SCOM agent to another SCOM group
Hi! I wonder what the simples way is to move one SCOM agent from my SCOM production management group to my SCOM test management group. To test new monitoring and then move it back to the SCOM production management group.
Is it to uninstall the agent from SCOM production management group and then install a new agent from SCOM test management group. Then do the same thing on the contrary way? The problem in this way is if we use a lot of groups and manually added servers into
different groups, then I need to control all groups that this server is included in and then manually add it back again when I install it in SCOM production management group again.

Hi Mats.
If you push install an agent from your prod Management Group without uninstalling the test agent first, it will become multihomed and report to both Managament Groups. It will not alert on rules/monitors from test env to prod and vise versa.
I would do it like that.mats.w | www.opsmode.com

you can let an agent report to 2 management groups at the same time. For testing purposes this is ok, but be careful not to report to 2 full blown mg's as it might stress the managed agent computer to much (basically don't run mp's in the test management
group, except the ones needed for testing. When testing has been done, remove them). Also you might want to consider just a few servers for testing and not have them all report to 2 mg's.Rob Korving
