Network Vicinity Links between equipments and Computers
Hello,
Is there any data on how the Links betewen Equipments / Equipments and Computers are made?
Because for me it not clear
Server 1 ---- Cisco IOS Software, C3750 (Equipment1)
Path Object Display Name GNA-00-50-56-A7-3F-FA<->PORT-cwgrwbscs0001/1.28
Description Bridge Connection Key LINK-GNA-00-50-56-A7-3F-FA<->PORT-cwgrwbscs0001/1.28 -- Tracert has 4 hops
-Tracert has 4 hops (why is appears conected if it is not directly?)
Server 2 ---- Cisco IOS Software, C3750 (Equipment1)

Hi
SCOM 2012 discovers the Network device and if you have a physical server which is connected to the respective Switch AND also has a SCOM Agent installed it will discover the Connection also and create those connection objects. What SCOM cannot discover are
virtual switches, they will not appear as any Kind of Switches in SCOM Network Vicinity Dashboard.
The Bridge Connection object shows you the connected MAC address and the port where it is connected.
I hope this helps you maybe to explain your problem...

Yes and no... if the tracert has 4 hops then it means that there is a routing? What about VPN`s, VLAN`s ... and other things.
What is strange if there are 4 hops (virtual or physical.. I do not know) then how could the Network equipment see the server MAC?
PS: Sadly I do not have access to what is between the server and the Network equipment to check...
