No Default website in IIS
Dear All ! in my xp machine i do have SQL server 2005 (Full) as well as SQL Server 2008 (Trial) in separate instances. i do have different databases in both servers and can access both the server simultaneously opened. but i think tht has make IIS to confuse (i hope) i do have some issues with reporting services of SQL 2005 after having deployment in SQL 2008 reporting services... verifying with some issues of same kind from Net, i did open the IIS to check for its config, and astonished to see the default website too was not there :O( Wen tried to connect computer from menu 'Action' its throwing error as 'The dependency service or Group failed to start'.. Did i do any mistakes by having 2 SQL in same machine?? How to get my default website back ?? thanks in advance !! --------------------------- Radhai Krish | Golden Age is no more far | --------------------------

Hi Radhai, It seems the issue you described is a Internet Information Server(IIS), not a SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) issue. It is sure, we can have both SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2008 in same machine. Also, it won't cause the Default Web site to be missing. The error 'The dependency service or Group failed to start' means that the service is unable to start due to dependency service or group failed to start. We can check if all dependency services is running from Services console. After start all required services, the issue may go away. However, I am a little confused on the word "Wen tried to connect computer from menu 'Action'". Could you please describe a bit more about this action? This will help us to understand the issue, and try to solve the issue. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

dear Jin, In IIS window from the Menu 'Action' i found an option to connect to computer. i did mention that only. i got the error only wen i tried to connect the computer. Except for the services of 'SQL Active Directory Helper service' of both SQL all are started and running. is there any other services that we need to start? Still the error occurs. kindly help to sort out this issue..--------------------------- Radhai Krish | Golden Age is no more far | --------------------------
