OSD Boot Images not distributing to SMSPXEIMAGES$
HI
Firts post on this forum, so I do hope anyone can help me.Yesterday my SCCM PXE broke, so i followed the process of removing the Pxe Service point and reinstalling WDS (did not configure WDS). But now when I try to update the SMSPXEIMAGES$ Distribution
Point I get the follwoing error:
Cannot access the package source
\\SERVERNAME\REMINST\SMSIMAGES\SMSPKG\P0100001\boot.P0100001.P0100001.wim for package P0100001, Win32 error = 3
I have checked the full path and gave "Everyone" full rights on all the shares in that path.
Any help please?
Thank you

Did you make sure that the share was removed from the server before you reinstalled the PXE service? I noticed that your SCCM service is trying to access a non-hidden share.Kind regards Tim Nilimaa IT Consultant at Mindgrape (Sweden) Please remember to mark this answer as helpful if it helped you.

Win32 Error=3 means The system cannot find the path specified .
Go to your WDS server and configure it (just create share) and browse to the location where it created share : H:\RemoteInstall\SMSIMAGES present or not ?
now Try accessing \\servername\smspxeimages$ and see if you can create new folders or not to check full access rights .

Thank you for the feedback. Yes I did remove the shares beforehand. What I do see is that under the "DataSource" tab on my Boot image when I say Browse, it does not pick up the destination i.e
\\servername\REMINST\SMSIMAGES\SMSPKG\P0100001\boot.P0100001.wim I beliewve that path is being auto set when the PXE Service point is installed?

Data source is location acting as source to copy the packages files and distributing it Repository( Distribution point where clients can connect to access it).
The boot image packages which are exist in SMSimages folder will be desginated as PXE Distrbution Point.
Are you trying to distribute the default /customised Boot image packages to PXE DP?
From the above information, seems like, you are using PXE DP packages as data source location if am not wrong. You should not use both the data source and Destination(DP) as same locations(not possible to use).
By default,SCCM will create boot image packages from source directory \\SCCMServer\SMS_sitecode\osd\boot\ and can be distributed to Standard DP and PXE DP as well.

HI
Thanks
Yes I am trying to distribute the default Boot image packages to the DP created by PXE service point role. So if I can chnage my Data source path of the destination to \\SCCMServer\SMS_sitecode\osd\boot\
then it should work not?
Will let you know

Yes But default boot images not required to change the path since it already pointed to above location and you just need to distribute it to DP.
If you are creating new customised boot images, then you can use existing images ( \\SCCMServer\SMS_sitecode\osd\boot\) and add the drivers or scripts etc.//Eswar Koneti @ http://eskonr.wordpress.com/

HI Eswar,
I changed the datasource path back to default you mentioned as it was not set as that. after which I reinstalled WDS, PXE service point etc, deleted all the remote install folder(the whole process). But still no success. Under the x64 boot image node in
the SCCM console, when I try to add new DP's, the wizard does run, but no DP's appear.
Any suggestions?

what does the wizard says (any errors)?
If the wizard doesnt show any DP's listed, there should be something wrong in your configuration.
Check the PXESetup.log to see if the PXE service point role installed correctly or not .
also check the component status to see if there are any errrors logged ?//Eswar Koneti @ http://eskonr.wordpress.com/

HI
The Wizard doesnt show errors, but it doesnt run the progress bra, it does however pick up all my available DP's. PXESetup.log show succesfull installation, component status shows in access denied...

I have had some succes, but unforunately it gets to the point where it says conatcting server and just stays there, the smspxe.log says that the device have been accepted. But I even re-installed WDS etc, but it does not go any further...??

Check the WDS service is started or not ?
Also ensure you need to have ports 66,67 selected in DHCP if DHCP ,WDS are not running on Same server
