OSD Windows XP and Intel H67 Chipset
Hello all, I'm hoping I can find some help here since I have searched and search to no avail. I am trying to deploy Windows XP on to 2 new computer models, a Dell Vostro 460 and a Dell Latitude E5520... both of these machines use an Intel Series 6 Chipset. I have downloaded both the Dell and Intel mass storage drivers and they contain no Series 6 drivers just Series 5 and older... according to everything I have found on intel's site or the internet says to use the Series 5. No matter what combination I try I keep getting a stop 0x7b BSOD after the machine reboots from applying drivers. I hope someone out there has solved this and can steer me right! Thanks, Patrick

are you sure it's not related to HAL?? try and run this script http://blog.coretech.dk/mip/handling-hal-switching-during-xp-deployment-no-bsod-0x07-error/ Michael Petersen http://blog.coretech.dk/mip/

How did you build your image and what drivers are in the image?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

I don't believe it is a HAL issue as the image has previously been used on computers ranging from P4 2.0's to Core i3/5/7 XXX Series simply by selecting the proper MSD.

The image was originally built as a VM with a single processor config (as to allow for the XP automatic HAL upgrade). As far as drivers go we have some MSD integrated with the image for older systems but we have over 15 different models/configs supported through "Apply Driver Package" to get the correct MSD for the machine. At this point we have been preparing for Win 7, and have a small test group deployed... I'm thinking I'm finally going to have to bite the bullet.

I can find the driver from: Drivers & Downloads for Latitude E5520 http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WXPX&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=LAT_E5520&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=True&scanConsent=False But Vostro Desktop 460 only has Windows 7 drivers. Drivers & Downloads for Vostro Desktop 460 http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=W764&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=VOS_D_460&hidos=W732&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=True&scanConsent=False I suggest you contact Dell support for the correct drivers. As I had indicated in the OP I have already tried the drivers from Dell. While you are correct that Dell doesn't list XP drivers for the Vostro 460's Intel does support the H67 chipset on XP I just can't get it to work.
