OS deployment Lock down

Hi Experts,

During the OS deployment through Task Sequence can we lock down the device so that the user should not be able to do anything on the device till the OS is completely rebuild ?

What can the user do now which you want to prevent?

Hi,

The User can log off or shut down the device now when the Task Sequence is running during the initial stage.

Tell them not to.

"Johnny, don't touch the stove."

There are certain things that are best handled in a non-technical fashion because trying to technically prevent it has other more serious repercussions. If for example, I don't want Johnny to touch the stove, I could put the stove up to 6 feet -- cooking would become a huge chhalenge at that point though. Likewise, I could lock the mouse and keyboard of the computer starting the TS but what happens if something goes wrong? Now I can't troubleshoot anything because my mouse and keyboard are locked.

Tell them to be good little users or all of their data will be erased.

If you have MDT2012 Update 1 integrated with config manager you could use hide shell.

That's for LiteTouch only and won't really prevent the user from logging out or powering the system off completely -- nothing can prevent them from doing that except maybe hiding the computer which once again leads to other issues.
