OneNote 2010 and SP 2007 - Links Broken
We are using Sharepoint 2007 with OneNote document libraries in our projects. One of our major problems is that links to OneNote docs (onenote://) do not work at all. An example would be posting a OneNote link in an Announcement section via the
rich text editor will often just strip the links out entirely. Dropping the OneNote:// tag and making a pure HTML linkswill not actually work either. The correct OneNote section will open but not the correct page within the section.
Is there any solution to extending SP 2007 to recognize OneNote links? Maybe I just need to install OneNote 2010 on the server, although I really don't think I should have to.
Thanks!

That page describes how to setup a OneNote document within SP. This is how ours is configured. The root cause is that Sharepoint's Default Text editor does not parse OneNote links at all. They simply read them as an unrecognized tag and only
handle link types http:\\ file:\\ etc.. If I Edit raw text of the post, I can put the link into the post, but it isn't properly parsed. it shows up as plain text rather than a link. I have to copy and paste this into an IE address bar, hit enter,
and then the OneNote section opens.
Basically users are not able to click on links, they have to copy and paste the onenote://http://blah../blah/.. into the IE browser, hit enter and then OneNote will open. It's a huge PITA for something that should be so simple.
