Operations Manager 2012 - unknown Problem
Hello, I have an alert (monitor) which isnt very well documented and am having troubles resolving it. The Name of the Alert is: Data Warehouse SQL RS Deployed Management Pack List Request First Chance State The Alert Description is: This monitor switches to warning state once Data Warehouse SQL RS deployed management pack list request process experiences a problem The information in this particular alert (the one that shows in the alert view) is as follows: Report deployment process failed to request management pack list from SQL RS Server. The operation will be retried. Exception 'WebException': Unable to connect to the remote server One or more workflows were affected by this. Workflow name: Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Deployment.Report Instance name: 4c0e2191-a1b6-4b00-b7e9-f41186198955 Instance ID: {E00EB073-E49D-2316-8D06-563EB8E99E5C} Management group: {x_my_group_x} It has something to do with my Web Console server but I cannot find any issues with it. The server appears to work perfectly (login to the web console, see the alerts etc.etc...) Anyone have any insight as to why this is triggering? Thanks Zach

So, the issue I have here is that it (in laymans terms) doesnt point at the reporting server... does it? Im having RPC issues with that server and will let you know if it fixes the issue.Zach

In addition, please check the firewall settings referring to the following post: Some Server 2008 Windows Firewall rules needed to install OpsMgr R2 http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2009/06/02/some-server-2008-windows-firewall-rules-needed-to-install-opsmgr-r2.aspx If the issue persists, please check the Event Log on the management server and SQL Server; if there are any related errors, please let us know the details. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li TechNet Community Support

The actual issue was the RPC service on the server. There were also issues with the VM Infrastructure. Thanks for the help though, really good reads. Zach

This alert usually relates back to problems on the report server (SSRS). In some cases the SQl reporting service might be down or misconfigured, or the server can not be reached due to name resolving or firewall-type problems on that machine. If you had an RPC problem on that machine than thats what to focus on. The management server will try to "deploy" reports to the reportserver every x time and as soon as it works the monitors will resolve themself.Bob Cornelissen - BICTT (My Blog about SCOM) - MVP 2012 and Microsoft Community Contributor 2011 Recipient
