Patching WSS and MOSS
Hi,I had a WSS 3.0 production system and just upgraded to MOSS 2007. In Central Administration this server now shows version 12.0.0.6318.I also just finished installing MOSS 2007 (Not an upgrade) to a new development server and it shows version 12.0.0.6219.Both servers have MOSS SP1 installed as well as the Infrastructure Update for Microsoft Servers. The only difference between the two systems is in Add/Remove programs isthe upgraded system also shows WSS 3.0, SP1, and Infrastructure Update for WSS. I had installed WSS 3.0 SP1 and also the Infrastructure update for WSS prior to upgrading to MOSS 2007.So here's my question. How do I make them the same version? And if I want to restore my production databases to a development server ... does it matter?Regards,Terry

Remeber onething.... if you have any patch for MOSS & WSS then first install the WSS patch and then the MOSS patch. Whatever it is follow this sequence....

Yep. Iwent back to the MS download page for the infrastructure update for sharepoint servers and sure enough it says to install the WSS patch first ... and their text is bold. Next time I'll read slower ... or simply read to begin with :)

Hello,
The version number 12.0.0.6318 represents MOSS 20071 or WSS 3.0Infrastructure Update(KB951695 & KB951297)while 12.0.0.6219 represents MOSS 20071 or WSS 3.0SP1. So it seems that the system didnt recognize that the Infrastructure Update was applied to your development server. Then you need to re-install the Infrastructure Update for the cleanly installed MOSS server under the guide as what youve seen.
