Primary site unable to commenicate with secondary site
hey all, I have a primary site server running 2007 SP2 R2 on server 2008 with a secondary site running 2007 SP2 R2 and server 2008 as well. Recently I have noticed that while the secondary is able to communicate upstream the primary is not able to communicate downstream. :o( The primary is a member of SMS_SiteToSiteConnection_<SITECODE> group on the secondary and is also a member of the localadmin group on the secondary. Below is an excert from the sender.log on the primary I know we have rate limiting in place hence the messages about bandwidth control, however when I removed it the win32 error = 2 messages still existed. We did have an issue where the secondary site had lost trust with its domain but I have removed and readded it to the domain as well as updating the local groups on both servers with the new object. Any help/ideas would be great as I really don't want to have to rebuild the server :o( SMS_LAN_SENDER to CUL is currently under bandwidth control, therefore only one connection is allowed, returning send request to the pool. Hi, Error 2 translates to The system cannot find the file specified. Renaming a site server is not supported, and might be the reason while you have the error. A few things you can try: 1) On the primary server, delete and recreate the address to the secondary site. After that restart the SMS_executive service 2) Check the local SMS_Sitetositeconnection_sitecode group on the secondary site. remove and add the site server computer account again. 3) Do the same for the SMS_SiteToSiteConnection_Sitecode on the primary server. Remove the secondary site server and add it again. Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi Kent, The site server has never been renamed, I have tried all of the above with little success although the error in sender.log now seems to vary between error code 2 and error code 5 (see below), upstream from secondary to primary is working correctly. yes, no joy i'm afraid. I'm going to try and introduce a site address account just to see what happens. I'll post back the results. Many Thanks

right I have added an account to the address that has localadmin access on the secondary site and that has started working. This is very strange as the primary is in the same group. also I'm guessing its not the primary computer account as this is able to talk to a central primary above it with no issues.
