Problem using Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable
I've a 64 bit SSRS 2008 R2 server. My goal is to provide user the capability to create a report against Access 2003. In order to do that I installed Office 2010 64 bit driver for MS Access from the following site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c06b8369-60dd-4b64-a44b-84b371ede16d.
The driver got installed just fine, when I try a UDL, I do see the option: Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider. But when I try to create a Data Source in SSRS, I do not see that provider under OLEDB. Can anyone suggest what I
should do?
Thanks!
GBM

Hi GBM,
Since Business Intelligence Development Studio(BIDS) is a 32-bit application, it is not able to call a 64-bit provider. This is why we cannot see the "Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider" from the "OLE DB Provider" list.
The suggestion is that, implementing a 32-bit environment in another machine, using the 32-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine(ACE) to design the report. After finishing the design, please deploy the reports to the 64-bit SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS).
In this SSRS server, please install 64-bit ACE. This should work around the issue.
For testing purpose, there is another workaround mentioned in the following article. However, please note, it is not recommended, as it is not tested in product environment.
