Problems accessing sharepoint site
Hi, Can anyone help me out with this one? I am on Windows Server 2008 R2, and using Sharepoint Services 3.0. I have two sharepoint sites: http://172.31.1.20 and http://172.31.1.20:81 http://172.31.1.20 - I can access this site perfectly from any other machine on the network (using name and IP address), and across the internet fine. http://172.31.1.20:81 - I can only access this site from the server spss3.0 is running on. I cannot access iut by name or by IP address from any other machine on the network. I have nothing else on the network running on port 80 (which when using an IP address I wouldnt have thought to be the issue), and I have nothing else on that server running on port 81. In fact, right now, there are no other applications running on that server at all. I have made sure that the site settings match that of the working sharepoint site. Am on a snow day, so today is a perfectday for gettiong this up and running as there are no interruptions.

Hi, The issue may be caused by the port on the IIS was blocked by Windows Firewall. Please try to stop Windows Firewall on your SharePoint server, and then check if you can access the site using IP address. Let me know the result. The firewall is not enabled on the server, and on the proxy server port 81 is already allowed. If I try to access externally across the internet, I see that the proxy forwards me to the sharepoint services server, and if I access internally, I dont even touch the proxy. Many thanks for the ideas. I would appreciate any more suggestions.
