Problems with InfoPath web service connection

Hi there,

I have a problem connecting to a web service with InfoPath, getting this error message:
InfoPath cannot find or cannot access the specified Web service description
And on the detail flip:
The file is not a valid XML file
The file cannot be accessed

Ive already connected to several other web services without any problems e.g. userprofileservice.asmx + SharePoint lists. Also I tried connecting to the web service with soapUI and no problems there and accessing the web service with a browser.
The only difference I know of is this is not a (Microsoft) Web Service, that is, its not an .asmx nor created with any tool from Microsoft.

Has anybody had this problem before or can contribute a solution for this matter?

This post didnt help me much: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointinfopath/thread/5fa5eca8-f8d7-4a2e-81ba-a3b4bdcfe5af (no web.config)

Hi Ragnar,

Are you experiencing this while using the Data Connection Wizard?  If so, are you choosing SOAP Web service on the Select the source of your data screen?  If so, perhaps the web service is not properly responding to the Data Connection Wizards ?WSDL inquiry.

Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Hi Ian,

Yes while Im using the DB Wizard with SOAP. I can access the WSDL inquiry with the browser (IE or FF) without any problems.

Any thoughts?

Ragnar

Ragnar,

I am replying on behalf of Ian...

Hmmmm.  I'm not thinking we can tell too much more without looking at it in detail - with perhaps a capture of the traffic going back & forth between InfoPath and the web service.

Such an in-depth level of support would fall into the paid support category.  Please visit the below link to see the various paid support options that are available to better meet your needs.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your reply, I did found a way by replacing all instances of "parameters" from the web service wsdl with the name "parameter"

This link solved the case http://scn.sap.com/thread/362558

Best regards,
Ragnar

Nice work, Raggoz!  Glad you were able to find the solution for that (without having to open a paid support case)!  I read that article with interest.  Thanks for posting the link so I and others could read it!
