Publishing subsite inside Team site
Hi All, I have a publishing site as root site and I have 4 subsites under it with Team site template. I would like to create a new subsite in one of the team site template subsites. When I create a publishing site, the site was created with the publishing feature on but looks like it still retained the team site layout (with the left side quick launch navigation). Is it possible to create a actual publishing site under team site in this scenario? Thanks in advance! Ravi

You could just provision a Team site, and then turn on the Publishing Feature (in Site Settings). - M- Michael Mukalian - 2010 MS MVP SharePoint Services - MCTS: MOSS 2007 Configuration - http://www.mukalian.com/blog

Hi, What do you mean by ‘with the left side quick launch navigation’? Is the quick launch navigation looks the same as a team site with heading like lists ,document library etc.? How about the root publishing site ?Does is have a quick launch navigation ?And what kind of site collection do you have ? You can create an actual publishing site under a team site in this scenario .But it looks a little different than under a publishing portal site collection . Before doing this you should that you have activated the ‘Office SharePoint server publishing Infrastructure’ feature on site collection level and on site level . Here is also another possibilities. You should set the page layout and page templates correctly by doing :Site actions>Page Layout and site template settings .Choose ‘Subsites can use any site templates ’and ‘pages in this site can use any layouts ’. For more information you can refer to : Custom Publishing Site definition is unavailable to create sub sites under publishing portal site collection: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/syedi/archive/2009/05/28/custom-publishing-site-definition-is-unavailable-to-create-sub-sites-under-publishing-portal-site-collection.aspx Quick launch navigation for SharePoint publishing site: http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/anavijai/6952/ If you have any more questions ,please feel free to ask. Hi , Please check the navigation settings if it is inheriting the same from parent. If yes then break it and create your own instead. Check the same for other factors also. In an aleternative way you can create a team site and then you can turn on the publishing feature. I hope this will help you out. Thanks, Rahul Rashu

Thanks everyone for replying. The publishing feature was not turned on for the Team subsite. Once I turned on the publishing feature, I was able to create a subsite under team site using publishing template. But the team site now changed to publishing site template as soon as I activated the publishing feature. Is there a way I can revert the publishing site to team site. I deactivated the publishing feature but still the publishing template is still there. Please help! Scenario: Root site: publishing site First level subsite:Team site Secon level subsite under above team site: publishing site The first level subsite converted to team site as soon as I activated the publishing feature. I need to revert it to team site. Deactivating the publishing feature did not help. Please help! Thanks!Ravi
