Question on CPU usage in MIIS server
Can you please help me to answer the
issue we are seeing in our MIIS server .We are using MIIS 2003 SP1 and the MIIS server is quad processor. While import\sync is running always one processor hitting 100% while all other CPUs are almost idle. All our MAs run sequentially
.Does management agent run as a single threaded process ?Is this is the reason why we are seeing 100% usage on one processor and all other processor idle ?
Is it different in ILM 2007 or FIM 2010 ?
Thanks,
GP

All of my experience is with MIIS 2003 SP2 and ILM 2007 FP1. I've only recently gotten FIM in a test environment to play with, but I can confirm Brian's post from experience with these verions. Multiple processors won't help your MIIS/ILM server
unless it has something else to do (like run SQL Server, or IIS/WSS for FIM, etc.).
More on the effects of performance of different physical resource configurations can be found at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=55412.
In my experience, I didn't have a CPU core maxed out (at least not for long) unless I was processing changes to a group with many members. In our setup SQL is on a remote server so I think much of the CPU time is tied up waiting for the SQL Server
to respond. I have heard some indications that FIM is not as bogged down by a remote SQL database as MIIS/ILM were, and for things like group management it really shines compared to earlier versions which had no built-in solution.
