RC.EXE Client issue.
Hi guys, for two days our helpdesk department complain that the RC.EXE is taking almost a minute to open. i didn't find no info on that issue, and i all i can say that nothing has been changed in our organisatin in the last two days, i even restarted the sccm server, i thought maybe it will help. Our helpdesk are using windows vista, and windows 7 machines, (32 bit not 64). No major distribuition of software is on the process,i talked with our communication division i thought they will see something on the routers, but no infor from them. if you have any suggestions, or leads that may help me on that i'll apprciate it. Best regards, Nahum

Are you launching rc.exe directly or via the admin console? What exactly takes one minute to open? Until a windows pops up? Or until the connection is established?Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Hi Torsten, the users have the RC.EXE shortcut on the desktop, and when they double click on it, it takes about a minute until they see the RC.EXE window.

Where is the actual rc.exe at? On their local system or a remote system somewhere. What is the command-line in the shortcut?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Hi jason, The actual rc.exe is located on each computer( installed on C folder usually), with a short cut on the desktop.

When you run rc.exe the process needs to communicate with the SQL server for the site server. The issues should be caused by network. What are the systems of the site server and the SQL server? If they are Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, consider disabling auto-tuning. Network connectivity fails when you try to use Windows Vista behind a firewall device http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934430 See the section “Let me fix it myself”. Auto-tuning is also involved in Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you can disable it with the command line. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
