RSClientPrint manual installation in Win7
Hi all, i have to install RSClientPrint 2005 on some win7 x64 pc that are used by users without admin authorities. Because i cannot access to server program files directory i have copied RSClientPrint files from a pc that have the activeX and i register RSClientPrint.dll by regsvr32, but when i print by web page continue to ask me to install plug-in and the plug-in isn't listed in IE8 add-in components. What i can do? thank'sRoberto Pallucchini *** Please mark as Answer, if this reply helps you *** *** Per favore Suggerisci come risposta, se la risposta ti stata di aiuto ***

I've already read this article but not have helped me. I have find the related cab file, asked to the servers owner to copy and send the file for me, extract all file into the corrected folter (i don't remember now) and registered the dll by regsvr32 but the activeX is not present in IE8 add-on list and continue to prompt the installation. I don't understand why do not work, in a lot of post uses this... what's wrong! however thank's a lot.Roberto Pallucchini *** Please mark as Answer, if this reply helps you *** *** Per favore Suggerisci come risposta, se la risposta ti stata di aiuto ***

Hi Roberto, I quickly verified the steps mentioned by the article, and from my result, it worked. All users can open the RSClientPrint window once I register the dll. For now, I have following suggestions for you to have a try, 1. Add the Reporting Service website to the trusted sites in your user's IE setting. 2. Logon the computer with Admin account, and install the ActiveX automatically by browsing to the Report and click Print icon (not manually). Let me know if that works. By the way, the issue is more likely an IE ActiveX installation, such as how can we install the ActiveX, so that non-admin users can leverage the ActiveX properly. I'd suggest you ask experts in IE forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ieitprocurrentver/threads Thanks, Eileen

I will try Eileen with your suggestions, however i have skipped your first point but is possible that this is the mistake. TnxRoberto Pallucchini *** Please mark as Answer, if this reply helps you *** *** Per favore Suggerisci come risposta, se la risposta ti stata di aiuto ***

Test done and work! the same without registering the website into trusted sites list! I have copyed and registered the component in a administering command prompt session. In the past i have used an administrator account, the regsvr32 complete the dll registration but continuing to ask to install plugin. In the last, computer logged by user, i have open a command prompt session invoking "run like administrator" and when prompt the user account i logged-in with my administrator account, then i have copied the files and run regsvr32 to register the component, now work well. I do not understand why only by last procedure work, all the time regsvr32 complete without errors. tnx to all. byeRoberto Pallucchini *** Please mark as Answer, if this reply helps you *** *** Per favore Suggerisci come risposta, se la risposta ti stata di aiuto ***
