Read-only user access to upload pictures
HiI have a Sharepoint social networking site that has a small announcement, calendar and discussion sections. The only area where users can contribute is in the discussion board, which I've taken care of by giving them read-only access to the overall site, however contribute access at the discussion board level. However, I do want them to be able to upload their personal picture to the site in the My Documents section. I've created a sub-folder in this area granting them contribute access to it. But the problem is that due to the read-only access to the overall site, they do not have the ability to go into their personal profile and attach the image to their profile (User Profile). Is there a way to allow them to attach their picture to their User Profile without granting them contribute access to anywhere other than their profile and the discussion board?Paul

Hi Paul,
You can use My Sites to let every user customize their personal profile, for example, their picture.
My Sites are individualized sites created for each user profile that contains personnel information about the user as well as personal and public views of information, documents and other content. The My Site can contain personal and targeted blogs, wikis, lists and web parts displaying colleagues and other profile information. The My Site allows users to present information about their skills, individuals they know as well as other social information to visitors.
