Recover deleted Word document in Document library
As Admin I can delete a Word document from a Document library but how can I restore it? (I take nightly backups of the entire server but I don't know how, or if I can, retrieve individual documents.) TIA, barkingdog

I have moved your thread to the Sharepoint forum. The reason is that from the description of your quesiton, it appears to be solely a sharepoint question. The sharepoint site we connect to the TFS team project, is a standard sharepoint site, so I think your quesiton would be best answered by folks on that team.

Is this WSS or MOSS? If so, it would be in the recycle bin.

>Is this WSS or MOSS? If so, it would be in the recycle bin. Actually, Paul, that would apply only if it was WSS **3.0**, WSS 2.0 doesn't have a recycle bin. ------------------ If you (original poster)actually have WSS 2.0 or SPS 2003 than that document is gone. Unless you have a thrid-party program installed that simulates a recycle bin (unlikely) then your only choice would be to use a backup of your v2 system that includes that document and restore it to a test (or temporary) server. That gives you access to the document. You will need then to transfer it to your product system (via copy/paste or downloading to your desktop or uploading it from there to your production site's document library). Mike Walsh

Note to Gregg Boer: Re: >The sharepoint site we connect to the TFS team project, is a standard sharepoint site Next time you re-direct a post to this newsgroup, please in some way indicate which version of SharePoint is used by the TFS team project in question. Just as youpresumably don't know anything about SharePoint other than the fact that you are using a particular standard sharepoint product in TFS(otherwise I presume you would have been able to answerthis questionrather than passing it over to us), we in this forum don't know anything about the TFS team project. Thanks Mike Walsh

Sorry about that. TFS supports both WSS 2.0, and will support WSS 3.0 with our next release. I'll remember to ask the customer provide this kind of information for you, as well as provide more context for you, next time I move a thread over.

FYI: I had a user delete a file by mistake from WSS 2.0. I was able to recover the document by looking in the user's Temporary Internet Files that same day. Thanks, Scotty
