Hi guys, currently I am installing Windows 7 Pro on VMware as a reference computer for my corporate SOE / COE. I have a question, what I want to do is apply all of the updates which we already have staged in WSUS / SCCM for windows 7 machines (already have a package setup). However my VMware box is sitting on a seperate network from my SCCM environment so I was wondering what the options were here, is it possible to download updates in a folder form then transfer via CD and apply to my reference computer? I have the option of connecting internet to the VMware host to download updates but means I will have to manually go through and pick and choose all the updates which we want to apply (when I have already done this for Windows 7 Update Package) Any help is appreciated Thanks Nick

If you don't have access to ConfigMgr where you build your reference image, you can always use MDT 2010 Lite Touch to build it, and still have a nice deployment solution for it. In MDT 2010 Lite Touch you can import the updates to the console and they will be applied during deployment. It is also possible to update the reference computer by WSUS or Microsoft Update and use SCCM Task Sequence Capture media to create the WIM image. This will be placed on a free to choose location, and can be imported in SCCM after that. That way it isn't necessary to have the reference computer on the same network.
