Report Model Security
Hi All,
We have a requrement to design a report model that is unique to each state users.
report models created and deployed to report server. and now when users
log into report server they only see the report model and data source for their state and they have only report builder access, no site setting,no any other setting. This is done by role assignment and item level security,no
problem.
The problem is when a user runs the report builder he/she sees all the report models on the right side window of the report Builder, rather we want the specific model to show up.Please shed some light on this
thanks

Hi,
Your requirement can be achieved by role assignment, and specify them in the report model's security page. If you still can't do that, please give us the version info of reporting services and what you have done on role assigment for the report model.
thanks,
Jerry

Jerry I have same problem, user can see all models in right side of report builder instead of just one model.User has browser and publisher role assigned for expected model.User dosnt have any other acces to view all other model but still when report builder
opens it lists out all models and able to create reports on other models too.
I'm using SSRS 2005 Enterprise edition,Report builder 3.0
Please help to encounter this problem.
Thanks!

All,
The original requirement for the project actually had changed.
rather than having multiple models which is one model for each state, we did only one model for all and use the filter function inside the model to display specific data to the respective state or user in my case. which enables users to see their own
data only.
pretty much used:
http://www.sqldev.org/sql-server-reporting-services/in-a-data-model-how-do-i-filter-rows-based-on-the-identify-of-the-user-54257.shtml
see at >>>"I FINALLY got it to work exactly the way I........"
you can play around inside the dsv by creating user_state table to join to other tables
hope this helps
