HI, My question is. Can I have the reporting services project on a webserver and point it to the reporting server database.Like say suppose we have a .net project I have it on a webserver and point it to database server. Similarly can I have the reporting server project on a webserver and point it to the database. If yes, how can I do that. thanks BRP

I am not sure what you mean by a "project"? Can you please explain? If you are referring to the project in BIDS then, of-course yes. Just change the data source to point it to whatever database server you want.

Yes I am using the BIDS....But should my Database server have the report server installed on it or vice versa?BRP

Nope, the Database server doesn't need to have Reporting Services installed. However, Reporting Services need to installed on the server on which you intend to deploy your reports. Hope that helps.

Hi, When you install Reporting services on a Server, the 'Report Server' and 'Report Server temp' databases are created in the current database instance. Also the BIDS is installed and is available for developing your report projects. Now using this BIDS you can develope reports, connecting to any other database (local/remote) to develope your reports. The details of all the reports that you develope will be stored in your installed 'Report Server' Database. Hope this helps.
