Hi,
you could probably make do this, but you'll probably get some errors doing it as MOSS is a licensed product and WSS is free.
The best shot you'll have is doing this using SQL Database Backup/Restore, and then attach the database to WSS(i think you will get a database schema error).

Hi,
Do you
want
to downgrade the Moss
2007 to WSS 3.0?
You can try to use backup/restore or export/import function to do this, but there are many unsteady factors that could affect the process, for example
MOSS featured sites. If you have a test environment available with WSS 3.0, you could give it a try and check if the backup/restore or export/import methods are available in your case.
Hope it helps.Xue-Mei Chang

Rather than saying this might work, I'm going out on a limb and saying that it will not work.
The problem is that WSS 3.0 is a sub-set of MOSS 2007 and a Backup (or Export) includes in every case things that are not available in WSS 3.0 and so the Restore (or Import) will not work.
Instead you need to restore to a MOSS 2007 system and then try to copy **parts** of the MOSS 2007 system to the WSS 3.0 system.
Typically a template of a List is the lowest possible denominator and in most cases a List template from a MOSS site can be used in WSS 3.0.
The first try should be to *try* to use a Site template. Some MOSS 2007 site templates will work in WSS 3.0 because they don't contain any MOSS-only functionality but some won't.
So the principle is:
1. Restore to MOSS 2007.
2. Do Save Site as Template for all Sites.
3. Try to use those templates in WSS 3.0
4. For sites that didn't work in 3., do Save List as Template for all Lists.
5. Try to use these Templates. (One or more will not work, but some will).
P.S. This has nothing to do with MOSS being a licensed product and WSS 3.0 being free. It has everything to do with MOSS having more functionality than WSS 3.0 and with Backup/Restore (etc.) requiring Like to Like.

Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.
