Rotate polygon text on map layer
Is there any way to rotate the polygon label text on a polygon map layer? It should be expression based as it will change for each polygon on a given layer. I've found under the "polygon template" properties (MapPolygonLayer
properties) various formatting options for the text, but none of these appear to allow for roatation of the polygon text itself. I have too many maps that can't support a single text rotation (i.e. LTR horizontal is the only way I can seem to make SSRS
display) for all polygons on the layer. I can provide an angle of rotation into a function for each polygon.

Hi Matt,
Currently, the polygon text can't be rotated on map of reporting sevices. However, you can submit a feedback at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope microsoft enable this feature in future service pack or release.
thanks,
Jerry

Hi Matt
I'm having the same issue than you have. I tried to convert the label's text to an image representing the rotated label. It works fine but I get the first label found repeated in every Layer's element.

I voted for the enhancement proposed.
Have you already find a solution ?Ivan

Ivan,
I had previously tried the text to image route but had issues with text readability due to the varying scale of the dynamic mps I was producing. I did not pursue it further.
Most of my maps were interactive as opposed to actually being printed, so my dropback was to utilize tooltips to display the text for the time being.
I did receive verbal confirmation from Microsoft that this would be correct in Denali and I'm eagerly awaiting the next CTP hoping to see it in there!
