SCCM / Wake On Lan Questions
Hi,I would appreciate if someone could provide some advice about the following issue: I came across the following article http://blogs.technet.com/smsandmom/archive/2008/03/04/configmgr-2007-implementing-wake-on-lan-wol.aspx We are trying to set WOL via SCCM07 R2. The SCCM server is configured in a different VLAN that the rest of the computers and also the computers are configured in different VLANS. The article metioned that " general rule, a Subnet Directed Broadcast is recommended " and "For subnet directed broadcasts to be successful, all intervening routers must be configured to forward subnet-directed broadcasts." In our network the SCCM server belong to the 172.20.200.10 the computers are sitting in different VLAN for example 172.22.142.29 or 172.21.160.136 in the article is also mentioned: The subnet directed broadcast is sent to the computer's subnet, and the magic packet is then broadcast to all computers on that subnet. Because this is a broadcast, all computers on the subnet will process the packet but only the computer that has the MAC address specified within the magic packet will respond. Can someone please help to understand how that would be applied in our current environment? I am not sure what needs to be enabled on the routers/switches? So far I haven't been able to have WOL working and we upgraded from SMS 2003 to SCCM because WOL was implemented as one of the new features. Thank you in advance for you time.

That depends on your router hardware. See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/ipaddr/command/reference/ip1_i1g.html#wp1081245 for a Cisco example.
