SCCM 2007 Not discovering all the clients
Hi all, First time posting here, but you've been helpful in the past to others so hopefully you can work your magic again. I'm attempting to get SCCM 07 going on a windows 2003 EE server. I've gotten it all installed, but discovering clients isn't working quite how I expected. I have the AD schema extended (I think I did this correctly) but when I go to >computer management, >Queries, >All Non-Client Systems I see a full list of switches and routers, however, the >All client systems options only shows about 5 computers (all from the switch the SCCM server is directly connected to) I cannot figure out how to see the rest of the network :( Also, of the 5 computers that DO show up, I have a Laptop directly connected to the switch, but the laptop is NOT showing up Not sure what to do

It sound like you only have network discovery turn on.. Why havent you on AD discovery? Why are you only using Network discovery? http://www.enhansoft.com/

Nah, ND is disabled, and only the AD methods are enabled

Have you looked at the AD discovery logs? List of Log files is here. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/bb892800.aspx http://www.enhansoft.com/

I have, but I'm very unfamiliar with them and I'm not sure which ones to look at, and also not sure what I'm actually reading/looking for

The more I look at it, I think I have a problem with my AD extension. Looking at my AD Users and Computers list, under the domain, there is nothing about SCCM I think this is the root of my problem

Extending the AD Schema has nothing to do with discovery. AD Discovery is a simple query of resource records in the OUs specified in the discoveries configuration. Only systems that are enabled in AD and are resolvable via DNS are "discovered". Routers and switched also have nothing to do with AD Discovery, If you have routers and switches in ConfigMgr, you had to have had network discovery enabled at one point as there is no other way for them to be in ConfigMgr. Which Discoveries do you have enabled? Please review the TechNet docs on disocvery for complete details: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632938.aspx .Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

Active directory: System Group, Security Group, System, User And that's it I think there was a time when network discovery was on, so that's probably where those discoveries are coming from

Each of these has its own log file that you can review: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb892800.aspx . You can also manually intiate each of these from its properties dialog box.Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys

Yep, I found those. Is there anything from these that would be helpful to see?
