SCCM 2007 on multiple sites
Hello everyone, I have 2 sites on the same domain. I installed SCCM 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with WSUS as first management point/distribution point. Local computers and server can install Configuration Manager Client successfully. I would like to install it to distant servers and PCs. I already have WSUS replication server on my distant site. I would like to know what would be the best solution to install SCCM client to my distant site ? Should I consider to install SCCM 2007 + WSUS instead of WSUS, or can I just set my HQ's management point as entire network's management point ? Best Regards

Hi, Based on this information I would just install a Primary Child site with WSUS and the SUP at the other site.Follow me through my blog and Twitter!

It depends on the number of clients you have in the site and the bandwidth. Typically if you install a secondary site I do not install a WSUS as the clients can use the WSUS from the primary site. If you have a small remote site (between 20-500 clients), I would recommend installing a secondary site based on the very few information you have given us.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Thank you. We have about 20 to 30 people on remote site, but due to bandwidth and traffic limits (100GB/month) we had to install WSUS on both sites. For the moment, i installed on SCCM on HQ, and WSUS on both. We do not have good transfer rates between our two sites due to distant ISP. Sorry, I did not replied sooner, because I had some issues unrelated to SCCM.

For the moment, I installed Config Manager 2007 on HQ and WSUS servers on remote sites. So updates are downloaded locally, but if I want to deploy software, I'll do that from my main site.

Yes, create a protected distribution point on the secondary server on remote site so that clients in the remote site will contact the local DP for content.Anoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
