SCCM 2012 Distribution Point 0x80080005

Hello, sorry if this has been asked before, most of my searching hasn't yielded anything like what I am seeing.

I have a site system with the DP role configured (DP2.domain.com), it works well most of the time, content has distributed and continues to successfully distribute. Every now and then I get an error like this in pkgxfermgr.log

ExecStaticMethod failed (80080005) SMS_DistributionPoint, AddFile SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER 27/02/2014 09:22:41 3580 (0x0DFC)
CSendFileAction::AddFile failed; 0x80080005 SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER 27/02/2014 09:22:41 3580 (0x0DFC)
CSendFileAction::SendFiles failed; 0x80080005 SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER 27/02/2014 09:22:41 3580 (0x0DFC)
CSendFileAction::SendFiles failed; 0x80080005 SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER 27/02/2014 09:22:41 3580 (0x0DFC)
 Sending failed. Failure count = 1, Restart time = 27/02/2014 09:52:41 GMT Standard Time SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER 27/02/2014 09:22:41 3580 (0x0DFC)

The DP has 3 TB free space on the DP drive. This is happening for one particular package (SCEP definitions updates)

This seems to indicate it could be access denied (error 5?) but when i check the permissions of the source location for the content i have added "DP2.domain.com" to the list of NTFS permissions with read/execute perms and also on the share Everyone has read/change permission (this was setup by another admin, shouldn't this just be read?).

Anyway the problem persists but content from this source location has previously distributed successfully and from other locations e.g. \\source\location\package1 fails and \\source\location\package2 works, not sure what the problem could be? Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any advice?

Looking under Component Status the SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER component has multiple errors all for the same package with message ID 8211, it is constantly retrying to distribute this package.

Thanks

Is the ConfigMgr site server computer account local admin of your DP server?

Thanks Torsten!

That sounds pretty terminal, Do you think this could be a problem with the setup of the DP system role or more likely an underlying issue with Windows Server 2012 r2? I rebooted the server and now the package has successfully distributed. This is not the first time this has happened, i put the previous problem down to a one off but apparantly not. I can't really be rebooting this DP whenever we get problems.

That's hard to tell without sitting in front of the system. Have you already examined eventlogs on the DP? I think it could be an underlying OS issue, so not ConfigMgr related
