SCCM Client windows update issue

I have just started learning SCCM in my work place. The issue is, sometimes when the machine received the windows update on the client machines (running on wind 7 64bit Pro), SCCM client will display error  "An error was encountered while attempting to install software updates. Please contact your system administrator for assistance. "

It happen randomly on certain machine and random updates, example of that commonly fails are .net updates, lync updates, security update, office updates. The workaround is to uninstall the sccm client and reinstall the client again then the updates will work again. Then after sometime it will happen again.

The SCCM client is 2007 ConfigurationMgr Client Version is 4.00.6487.2000. Any idea or workaround on how to troubleshoot this issue instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the SCCM client?

Have you reviewed any log files?

Like Windows Update.log or any log in the agent logs folder with update in the name?
