is there a bitlocker or other partition on the disc ? press f8 and bring up diskpart to find out, if there is perhaps you need to accomodate that in your TS My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

There is. Funny thing is, when I go into diskpart & list the disks, it will list disk 0 BEFORE the ts is ran. Once the ts is ran, I get the 0x80070002 error, f8 it again, list the disks, no more disk 0. Should I be doing something different in the Partition disk portion of my ts? What could be removing disk 0 in total? The ts has the 100mb fixed NTFS for the bitlocker partition, then the rest for the os partition I'm using the latest version of virtualbox, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference.

Ok, well, I believe I've figured out where the error is, it is indeed w/ the latest virtualbox (4.0.8) & the SATA drive. When I mount the disk via IDE within vbox, no problems whatsoever. Task sequences run just fine. As soon as I flip it over to SATA, I get all sorts of errors...all settings within vbox all fail w/ the same error. So, I have no idea why during a disk partition why vbox just loses the disk altogether...crappy SATA driver I'm assuming?

Hello, So.. It´s working with an IDE disk. It´s failing with a SATA disk. Are you using Quick format?.. if that is the case... can you try with Normal format? Have you tried to add the Sata drivers into the boot image? Are you using a Customer Boot image? and What version of WAIK have you installed. Best Regards,

1. Yes, using quick format. I'll go ahead & try normal format, although, I'm not sure that will work as during the partition process, it's *completely* losing sight of the disk....it'd be like you running diskpart on a physical machine, but when you first go to partition, the disk physically becomes unplugged. 2. The SATA drivers are no different that what we've been using. I'll look & see if VirtualBox implemented new SATA drivers in their rev 4 3. We're using the boot disk that came w/ SCCM (I believe we're R3?), loaded w/ various drivers for Dell's, VirtualBox etc etc

I am getting the exact same issue, trying to build an x64 build with Virtual Box. The capture task sequence worked fine, but the deployment one bombs out as soon as it tries to format the disk. diskpart reveals "There are no fixed disks to show". Any ideas ?

Resolved issue using VMWare Player instead of VirtualBox
