SCCM OSD capture only task sequence
O.k., I know this has been asked before, but I have never seen an answer that was correct or that it could work. I am running sccm 07R2 sp2 and I am trying to capture a base image from a machine that is preconfigured. I do not want to sysprep it or change it in any fashion. I have successfully used the stand alone capture media and disabled the prepare configmgr client task sequence, as there is no client installed on the os. And, although this works to capture an image. It forces me to run sysprep. If I disable the prepare os task sequence, the capture task sequence will error out in WinPe, telling me I did not run the prepare os task sequence in the smstslog. I have seen people ask this question, but I have never seen a complete answer. Is it possible to just capture an image and that is all? Also, I have a problem when I capture the image successfully and the system is syprepped, it does not use my unattend.xml. I have placed it in the %windir\panther directory. Is this the correct place? Where should it be in order for sccm to use it when it syspreps or do I have to specify it somewhere? And is it possible to add command line switches to sysprep during the task sequence? I would be extremely grateful for some help. Thanks.

If you want to "just capture" an image, no sysprep, no configmgr client, no nothing, then why bother with a TS to do that. Just boot into WinPE and run Imagex... That's all that is really left...so there that part is now done. As for the last part, when you do use Sysprep before capturing an image, if you want it to your your XML file read at the end this article here might help. Mike...

Have you worked out your issues regarding capturing? I may have some suggestions if not.

I have done it with imageX, but I would like other options. What do you have?
