SCCM PXE no Advertisement
Hi All,
I am experience some issues when deleting a SCCM client (especially Dell Latitude 4300 and 4310) from the SCCM console and trying to rebuild the device. Also
if the machine is part of the database/console, they will rebuild successfully.
According to the PXE there is no advertisement assigned to the device.
I have unknown boot enabled, and it works. If I add the machine using Computer Association, the device is added to the collection which has the advertisement assigned
to rebuild the device. But with the deleted devices, still no luck.
On the PXE and WinPE, all the NIC drivers are included and working. I don’t have to clear the PXE advertisement, due to these devices isn’t in the console.
No Obsolete records are created, again these are new devices added to the console.
Is there a way to ensure that these devices are not in the SCCM database, via SQL or something else?

Sounds like you are being affected by the PXE Cache:

Thanks Jason for the quick replay,
I modified your registry key and also restarted the WDS server... still no luck. It seams like to computer object is somewhere stuck in the SCCM database.

Have you checked if the PC is in "Unprovisioned computers" ? if so delete it. Else try and query the PS's by MAC from a collection, to see if has an old record somewhere. If it has, also delete that one!Michael Petersen http://blog.coretech.dk/mip/

Do you have an advert assigned to the Unknown Computers collection?

When searching for devices, the best place is the "All Systems" collection. Sometimes devices are imported, but not displayed immediately (or displayed with a different name). This can be checked with the following:
Rightclick on the "All Systems" collection and choose properties > Membership Rules.
Click the blue computer icon for adding new devices
Choose System Resource (Resource class) & Name (Attribute name). Fill in the device name searching for (Value)
OR
Choose System Resource (Resource class) & Mac Addresses (Attribute name). Fill in the MAC address searching for (Value)
Don't use Collection Limiting for searching devices, otherwise you have less change to find them
When having obsolete client data, multiple devices will be seen. Choose "Select All" for adding them to the collection
After that new devices are added, and obsolete items can be deleted
When devices are in the right collections, advertisements will be functional again.

That does not make sense to me. The 'all systems' collection already contains ... well ... all systems. Why should we add another direct membership rule?Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

It can be done on other collections also. With the above method you can check if multiple (and maybe obsolete) items are still existing in SCCM collections. This because I've seen different objects with the same MAC addresses before. With direct membership
on the "All Systems" collections, these objects will be displayed for you.
When new devices will not be displayed in the console while running "Computer Association" try to give it another name during import. That will work also in most situations.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you cannot add those machines that you deleted earlier to the OSD collection. I faced this problem quite often, the database still got the old machine record and therefore failed to add them. Try to query those machine with
their MAC address in All System and delete them, then add them back to the OSD collection.
