SCCM Scenarios in OSD
Hello. I've got a simple question. If I'm doing OSD on Windows XP to Windows 7 on the same machine, do I need to create USMT package, or there's an easier way to do it? Thanks.R.E.M. - YEAH!

you only need USMT if you intend on migrating Data from your XP install to Windows 7, if its an inplace upgrade (refresh/reinstall) then you can use hardlinking so yes you'd need to create the USMT package (on the SCCM server) and include it in your task sequence here are some sample XP to Windows 7 task sequences: Some Sample XP to Windows 7 task sequences showing Hardlinking hardlinking and SMP My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady
