SCCM and Remote Tools
I am sure this has been answered before somehow and somewhere, but I am unable to find this solution. If someone knows of the link (external or internal to this site) I would appriciate any help. Currently we are using sccm version: 4.00.6487.2000 and remote tools (via a autoit script). I have looked into Ron Crumbaker script and may go that direction. How ever my question is, Can I use a (and this is where I get lost) a snap-in, third party software, or change the configuration to allow our admins to use remote tools with out the end user agreement box popping up, but make other users who need to use remote tools on a non admin level be prompted by that permission screen. I'm not sure if I am asking this question clearly, as my sccm knowledge is limited. If there is something I am leaving out or not addressing properly my apologies.

You can configure the built-in remote tools to not prompt the end-user for permissions. But that will be a setting; that also applies to the other users who are permitted to use remote tools.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

I know I can set the 'Ask for permission when adminitrator tries to access clients' in the properties sheet of 'Remote Tools Client Agent'. I am wanting to maybe toggle that setting on, but allow our admins to remote tools without that popup, but make standard users recieve that message instead.

As Kent said, it's an all or nothing setting on a per-system basis. You could potentially write a script to dynamically toggle the settings before the connection is made, but that is entirely outside of anything ConfigMgr will/can natively provide.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

With that in mind, does anyone know of a piece of software or script that can handle/provide this solution? ***edit*** Even a third party piece of software/snap-in would be considered.

Something like this? this is for Remote Assistance, not RC: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/skissinger/archive/2006/12/12/how-to-configure-remote-assistance-to-not-prompt-for-user-permission.aspx You might want this, too: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/skissinger/archive/2009/02/24/sms-configmgr-remote-assistance-ron-crumbaker-web-remote-console-3-21.aspx and if you are really clever, you could combine the two. I thought I had combined that, but maybe not. I don't have it posted anywhere. For RC, that's a regkey. I've added that button into Ron Crumbaker's web remote console 3.21 before, feel free to steal the code: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/skissinger/archive/2007/02/06/toggle-sms-remote-tools-prompt-for-permission-ron-crumbaker-s-web-remote-tools-3-21.aspx All of the above was mainly written from the standpoint that it would be part of Ron Crumbaker's Web Remote 3.21, but it's just vbscript. You could steal it all, and make your own .hta front end, or scripts. It's just scripts.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

Alright first off, thank you Sherry. Both your tips and website have been a great help to me. I do have more quesitons though, if you (or anyone else) have time to help me with a few. Any idea why it says it cannot find the (remote tools) client installed on the target machine, when it IS installed and I can connect through sccm directly using the sub menu then run>remote tools? I have also been looking into Roger Zander's SCCM Client Center, but I would have to modify it considerably to fit my needs I feel. So my next question is, does anyone have a few links that may help me axpand on Roger Zander's tool? Maybe something along the lines of populating the client list with users that are on a certain domain or collection. Any help would be great thank you!
