SCE Software Packages not deleting
I'm having a problem with the Software Packages that I create not deleting and giving me an error when I try to delete them again saying, "can not revise or expire a package that has already been expired."
Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error. The application will continue to run.
System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot revise or expire a package that has already been expired. at Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.BaseApi.Update.ExpirePackage() at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.SCE.Internal.UI.SoftwarePackagesView.DeletePackageProgressForm.DeleteItemsBackgroundWorkerDoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.OnDoWork(DoWorkEventArgs e) at System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker.WorkerThreadStart(Object argument)One of the packages I originally deleted last week.

Hi,Did you delete the folder(which contains software installation files)under "UpdateServicesPackages" folder before trying to remove it in SCE console? If you did, you cannot remove it from SCE console again, as this is a bug.

No, I didn't even know about that option. Should I try that now? I'm just talking about testing and removing Software Packages.

Hi,I'd like to suggest you run "server cleanup wizard" in WSUS console, then try to delete if from SCE console again

This did not work and I did try this step after reading the similar thread I found and replied to in the Software forum section. I did try deleting the Service Pack files after doing all this previously as well. I hope that didn't make things worse. Initially I did delete the packages from the Software control in SCE though.

Here is an older post about the same issue:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenter/thread/8eea3ce2-a78b-44ce-b7ed-c748e9f1cd63/90% of the laws are made because of 10% of the people.

Evidently there were several posts, none of which were the answer. I have like 6-8 Software packages just sitting there without the ability of being removed as I've tried all the recommended fixes and they haven't worked... Some I've had to use the same name to recreate for testing purposes. Either way it is rediculous and I hope they add a fix for this soon since it was discovered last SUMMER!

Thank you Eric but luckily I don't need to try that now... After finding a trojan virus on the server, which was actually a test server gone past its threshold, we successfully got a real server installed and going! Since I've begun testing deleting software packages has worked successfully without incident.
Thanks
