SCOM2012 Dual-homing agents through a gateway
Hello, We currently have SCOM2007, in Domain A, successfully monitoring agents on the other side of a firewall in Domain B through a gateway. SCOM2007 also monitors agents in Domain A. We plan to pilot SCOM2012 in Domain A and dual-home the Domain A agents to both SCOM2007 and SCOM2012. The questions is, can we dual-home the agents in Domain B? If so, how to configure the gateway(s) and agents in Domain B? Thanks. Noah Deah

Hi Noah You would need to setup up a SCOM 2012 gateway in Domain B that is part of the SCOM 2012 management group (MG). Then push the scom 2012 agents via the gateway. This will multi-home the agents between the SCOM 2007 MG and SCOM 2012 MG. I would strongly advise that you use the same certificate chain (trusted root certificate authority) for SCOM 2012 MG as for SCOM 2007 MG as an agent can only load one certificate. So if you have agents in a workgroup that are currenly communicating with SCOM 2007, then to multi-home them with SCOM 2012 they must use the same certificate for each environment. Which means the same chain (trusted root certificate authority). Hi Graham, Thanks for your prompt reply. Sounds like a plan! I'll respond after it's complete to let anyone who cares know how I went. Noah
