SCOM notification - subscription criteria
Hi,
I need some help configuring the SCOM notification subscription criteria.
I have a 2 node SQL 2008 cluster. I want that when a critical or warning alert related to windows cluster or SQL 2008 is generated by these 2 nodes then the notifications should be sent to a specific e-mail id.
When a OS related alert is generated by these 2 nodes then the notification should be sent to a different e-mail id.

Javed

Hi JDSH,
I would create group (or groups) with these two computers objects.
Then you can create two subscriptions:
1) All Alerts with class cluster services and group with these two nodes and severity warning or critical-->send to specific email
2) All alerts with class operating system and group (contains these two computers) and severity warning or critical-->send to different email
You should use combination of class and groups.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for the reply. Similarly for SQL alerts do I create subscription ?
3) All Alerts with class sql instances and group with these two nodes and severity warning or critical-->send to specific email

Yes,
I use very often combination of class and groups. Sometimes is very useful specific rules or monitors. But If you want to send ALL alerts related to specific SQL servers, create group with explicit SQL server members and then create subscription with class
SQL and created group.
Dont forget to choose "With resolution state --> New" If you dont want to get two same alerts, when alert or monitor is automatically closed or manually solved.
