I am trying to use a script in a task sequence to write the SMSGUID to SMSCFG.ini. This all succeeds but the SCCM client creates a new record anyway. Has anyone successfully used SMSCFG.ini to reused the SMSGUID in SCCM??Jacob.

There's a utility called tranguid.exe that was designed for reusing GUIDs.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I modified my task sequence to use tranguid.exe and this also did not work. I have tried doing this both before and after the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr steps with no luck. I as see my SMSCFG.ini in the Windows directory before and just after that Setup Windows And ConfigMGr step. At some point afterwards the client just generates a new GUID. Has anyone achieved this as part of a task sequence??Jacob.
