SQL 2000 DTS timeout
Hi there: We have many batch processes using DTSs (about 400 DTSs) on SQL 2000 on Windows 2003, and we are using job scheduler to launce the DTS jobs, the jobs are running about 8 days. DTS is on application server and it accesses the database server to process the data directly or call the stored procedures on the DB server. Recently I got many timeout expired error. All the timeout settings in the DTS are set as 0 (unlimited) and these setting have not been changed. most of the timeout happened around 12:00AM, there is no specific job running at that time on net work. But if I rebooted the servers before the scheduler jobs start the timeout won't happen. anybody can help to analyze the root cause of this. Thanks, John

Hi John, Please look into the job running logs to find which DTS timeouts, so that we can do futher troubleshooting such as add logging in the DTS to trace the timeout issue, or it is SQL server resource risk. thanks, Jerry

Hi Jerry: Thank you for your reply. I know which DTS timeout when it happens, but it happened randomly on different DTS and different setps, how should I add trace to all the DTSs? Also, my DTS Connection Timeout setting is NULL and General Timeout is 0 (default settings), should I make any change about them? Thanks again, John
