SSRS 2008 Charts
Will the charting for SSRS 2008 have the complete Dundas Chart package, or only a subset?

It depends on what your point of reference is? If you are talking about the 6.1 version of the ASP.NET controls, then the answer is that we won't have the features that are part of that release. If you are talking about the Reporting Services controls that shipped for the 2005 version of SSRS, then we will have much more feature parity with that release. There are some features that we are not supporting in the charts. Those features are custom code, annotations and custom legend items. If there are some specific scenarios you'd like feedback on please do let me know. Sean Sean Boon Program Manager, Reporting Services (Data Visualization)

I'm trying to evaluate whether I need to buy the Dundas Graph for Reporting Servicesorto what extentwill SSRS 2008 havethat is offered by the by Dundas. One graph feature that I will need is support for SPC charting. This appears to currently be an Add-on) from Dundas (Six Sigma Charts for Reporting Services (Add-on)). Is there a spec. sheet spelling out the capabilities of charting for SSRS? Thanks

The Six Sigma Charts from Dundas relies on a piece of functionaliy called chart custom code. That feature will not be available in the native SSRS 2008 charts. You will still be able to execute these reports on the server because the 2008 server can execute 2005 SSRS reports. The 2005 Dundas chartCRI features that are not being included as native 2008 report items are:custom code, annotations, and custom legend items. As far as a spec sheet goes, the help documenation for charts is the place where we would include such information. We don't currently have a"What's New" section, but all of the new features are discussed inthe chart section. -Sean

So in SSRS 2008 r2, should I be able to make the code pane recognize the "as chart" object? I have not been able to. If so, do I need to add a .NET reference, and what would that be. I'm just trying to get rid of the "Series 1" label in the bar chart legend. It shows up because I've added a series group. Thank you

Or you could try to take a look at www.predisys.com, which already have a module for SSRS that provides the spc control charts and software you need for SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008. The solution also supports SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010, and actiually even Excel.
