SSRS 2008 Security
All,
I am trying to let a new person on our team publish reports to our SSRS 2008 Report server with BIDS 2008.
I have read: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156014(v=SQL.100).aspx
And I have read: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337491(v=SQL.100).aspx
I have made him a system user by going to Site Settings --> Security and giving him the role assignement of System User.
I then went to the root level folder, clicked on the Properties tab and created a new role assignment and selected Publisher and Publisher for Microsoft CRM. Does he need anything else here ? (Browser, Browser for MS CRM, Content Manager, My Reports, Report
Builder)
When he tries to deploy the report using Visual Studio 2008 BIDS on Windows XP, he gets an error about having insufficient permissions.
I believe I have done everything correctly as per the documents outlined above.
The only thing that seems to work is to make him a local administrator on the server where SSRS is installed, and that is just not going to work.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Try to grant him "Content Manager" rights

Hi David,
From your description, it might be caused that the user has no permissions deploy reports to Report Server. Could you please post me whether the user can access to Report Manager or not?
If so, the user can upload reports directly to the Report Server using the Report Manager interface. By the way, please ensure that the user has permissions access to each folder item on Report Manager.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Bin Long
