SSRS and Trusted Sites
I have a user who, for lack of a better term, is being a pain in the tookus. We have an application on a hardened site (using SSL), that offers reports. For some of our remote users, this requires adding our urls into their IE Trusted Sites so
the selected reports will launch. Now, for 99% of our users, this is no problem, but, for this one, it is. He is "demanding" documentation as to "Why", and, if we cannot provide him with that information, he will demand that we alter our application
to suit his needs ($$$$$ in programming as an alternative to him working with his SAs to add the sites). Does anyone have this type of information? I've provided him with configuration information and the like, but, that doesn't answer why.
Like I said, he is being a PAIN!
Thanks much!

Hi mlfettes,
Add Reporting Services URLs to trusted sites. By default, Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 runs in Protected Mode, a feature that blocks browser requests from reaching high-level processes that run on the same computer.
You can disable protected mode for the report server applications by adding them as Trusted Sites.

Bin,
This user is on the Client side -- a remote user. I have configured the reporting services for local administration and understand the concept of needing Trusted Sites.
The user works at a location where system administration processes are very strict, and he is reluctant to file the appropriate paperwork to add our locations to their Trusted Sites. In fact, he is debating the need for Trusted Sites EVER on the client
side (our application requires authentication on a secure network and reports are rendered using the user's credentials). He feels that our software is "broken", and it should not require the addition. In other words, he feels Trusted Sites
are unnecessary (primarily because he is lazy and doesn't want to do the paperwork).
My question concerns the WHY for Trusted Sites. I understand it's due to changes in security zones for Windows7 and beyond (credentials are no longer automatically passed), but this user does not want to hear that from me.
I hope this clarifies the issues.
