Saving/Exporting Sccm 2007 R2 Reports

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was some built in functionality I'm just missing or some 3rd party software that will enable me to export my report structure with all the reports?  My paranoia is acting up and having an easy recovery of all my reports would make me sleep a little better.

Thanks

From classic or from SSRS? I found a free tool that will backup SSRS reports.

You only need to backup you custom reports, do you have a lot of custom reports?

Sorry John, not getting the SSRS acroynm.  I'm willing to look at anything that will help.  Garth, I have a fair amount yes.  Around 60 that I can count from my bookmarks.  That doesn't include others I use infrequently.

SSRS = "SQL Server Reporting Services"

This is a new reporting capability (and role) added in 2007 R2 that uses SSRS as the reporting engine instead of the classic reporting.

If you are using classic reporting, then you can right-click on a report and choose to export it to a MOF.

If you using SSRS reporting, you can right-click on a report in the web interface and save it to an RDL from there.

What URL are you using to access your reports? This will tell us with reporting you are using. My guess is that your are using ASP because of you comment to John about SSRS.

<server>/reports - aka SSRS, Nice and cool

OR

<server>/smsreporting_<sitecode> - aka ASP, old and .....  :-)

<smacks head>  sorry, should have seen that one.  We have it enabled, but truth be told don't use it.  I find it clunky, so yes we use classic all the time.  I see what your saying with the export objects option.   Very tedious to do, but at least it's there.  Thanks for pointing that out, I guess that'll be my solution then unless someone has any other suggestions to do it en mass.

"clunky"

SSRS is far superior and more functional than classic reporting. I highly recommend you revisit it.

If you are only using ASP then you don't need to back them up as they are stored within the CM07 db. Therefore if you have an good backup of you CM07 db. You don't need to backup the "old" ASP reports.

SSRS is soooo much nicer that the old ASP reports. You can do some really cool thing with it.

Yes there is a big learning curve but... When you move to CM12, there is no more ASP reports, so better start leaning it now. :-)

Yes we have are db backed up regulary, but not knowing enough of what gets backed is what's causing the paranoia.  We won't be going to 2012 till maybe the end of the year, so I have time.  I just find it slow to use and in my incarnation a royal pain to organize.

I hope you are using the CM07 backup task. That is the only supported way to backup CM07 and it's database.
