Secondary Site Migration to New Hardware
We have a server that is due for lease replacement, and it is a secondary site. The new server will have a new IP address and new server name. What is the easiest way to add the new server as a Secondary SCCM server, and decommission the old
site?
I was thinking that I could just install SCCM 2007R2 onto the new server, point it to the main site, but not sure what to do from there. Our Secondary site is an MP, DP, and a Software Update Point.
Thanks for any advice you can offer...

Hello - First, uninstall the old secondary server and remove it from hierarchy. Then install new SCCM server with new site code.
See more details in the below thread (Kent's reply)

If you still have Server1 (your old Secondary site server) in the Admin Console, then right click the server and select deinstall. If that's not possible then you can simply run the config mgr. setup program on the secondary server and select to remove it
in the GUI. You might also want to take a look the Preinst.exe tool.
I normally deinstall the secondary site, install the new secondary on new HW and configure the same roles. It dosn't take long. Then I use PreloadPKGOnsite to transfer the packages from the old server (I am pretty sure that will be faster than distributing
them from the parent site). Yor can download the tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=C36FCDA8-9336-4D44-9568-5530FF7635DD&displaylang=en

Remove pacakges and site roles from the old server (but keep a copy of the compressed packages)
Uninstall the old secondary site server Install the new secondary site server and use preloadpkgonsite.exe to load the compressed packages. That way you don't have to send all the packages to the location.
