SharePoint Word Quick Parts
Not sure where to place this. But we migrated a Notes database to SharePoint (2007) and when we did (using the Quest tool) it allowed us to use two templates for the two types of Word documents that now live in a SharePoint document libarry.
Once the migration was sucessfully done we set up QUICK PARTS to the default template in this library. The QUICK PARTS accurately display the SharePoint meta data in one of the templates but DO NOT in the other one that is not the default template.
Is this a restriction? That is can you only do QUICK PARTS on the default template in a given document library?
If so is there a way around this?
Thank you
Chuck

Not even sure if it should be in a SP forum at all.
This one for instance is Quick Parts and SharePoint

@Mike: I'd say it's the correct forum for it, as technically it'll come under the remit of a Content Type, even if it's a little ill-defined.
@Chuck: When you say "templates", can you clarify for us what you mean please? Are you seeing two options from the New --> "item" menu in the document generation part of the migrated document library? If so, you can change the default documents
attached to these, so you'll be able to configure the Quick Parts to your need and simply overwrite the default word item within the content type settings.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

No not a content type per se. WHen you establish a document library and in the document library settings (advanced) you can either enabble content type and there by include custom content types OR if you do not enable content types you can EDIT the
default template.
So, if you establish FIRST meta data in your document library and THEN edit the default template when the WORD template loads under the INSERT menu you will see QUICK PARTS in the WORD instance. If you select this and hover over the quick parts your
meta data fields will display allowing you to insert the custom meta data fields into the WORD template. You can then save this back to the document library and NEW content will use this template to both create new content and or display existing content.
Am wondering if this capability is limited to ONE template per document library?
Thank you
