Sharepoint Announcements 250 Character Limit
The Sharepoint Announcement web part only shows 250 characters (followed by "...") of the announcement on my site hompage. Where can this be changed?Running WSS 3.0 on Windows Server 2008.

Ben, Please don't propose your own posts as answers. By all means propose the good answers of other people as that helps the Moderators here, but don't propose your own answers as that doesn't. That was helpful, but not quite what I was after.I created anew view on the Announcements List and tried different styles. The front page uses the <summary view>, this view is using a style that is not available in the Style selection when creating a new view. It must be using some XSL ? style to truncate the Body to 250 characters and append "...", so I guess my my question should be, how do I modify theXSL used by the <summary view> on the Announcements list.

Hi Oli Tandler, You can try to use SharePoint Designer to modify it. Open the .aspx page with the Announcement Web Part on that you wish to modify. Search for the string Limit Len="250" and change the first one to something like Limit Len="2000" to allow the viewing of an announcement message body of 2000 characters. Hope this helps. Lu Zou

I wounder if this could be done via CSS in a content edtior part? Nope, it's the web part that drives the length... Pity. Though, Perhaps the feature could be modified to default to something > 250 \\gr-spps-02\c$\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\AnnouncementsList\Announce Look at the schema.xml /bac

This works well in Sharepoint 2007, but there is no Limit Len in sharepoint 2010, they have moved this control somewhere else and not being able to adjust it makes using the announcement web part very difficult.Denzel

This doesn't help as I don't need instructions on fixing this in sharepoint 2007, I need help in sharepoint 2010 and there is no Limit Len field in the .aspx page in 2010. So this isn't an answer to the question.Denzel
